Bikram Yoga

Today, Baltimore Groupon ran a deal for Bikram Yoga and I immediately grabbed one! I've been wanting to try Bikram Yoga for a while now but was hesitant to pay $15-$20 tuition. Today's deal was $50 for 20 classes - major savings.

Bikram yoga is a 90 minute series of 26 yoga postures and breathing exercises taught in a 105'F room. Why a 105'F room you ask? Well, according to the official Bikram Yoga website, "Yoga changes the construction of the body from the inside out, from bones to skin and from fingertips to toes. So before you change it, you have to heat it up to soften it, because a warm body is a flexible body. Then you can reshape the body any way you want." 

Here's a little blurb from the Bikram Annapolis website: 

"By the end of a Bikram Yoga class, you will have worked every muscle, tendon, joint, ligament, internal organ, and gland while systematically moving fresh, oxygenated blood to 100% of the body. These postures work synergistically and cumulatively to put the body back on track and in balance. Bikram Yoga builds strength, balance and flexibility by gently stretching and massaging the spine, muscles, tendons, joints, and all internal organs of the body. Lung capacity is expanded, leading to greater vitality. Bones are strengthened. Joints are opened and lubricated. Muscles are strengthened, toned, and made more flexible. Regular practice of this series of postures results in the healing and repair of injuries and illnesses, weight loss, and peace of mind." 

I certainly am petrified excited!
