Six Things I Love About October

images 1/2/3/4/5/6

As you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and pink is literally.. everywhere. But if you could do me a little favor, take a moment to think about the ones who develop Metastatic Breast Cancer, cancer that has spread beyond the lymph nodes. This ribbon above was developed by METAvivor, the support group that my mother and two other women founded in 2009 before she passed away. Green and teal were chosen to signify metastasis. Green represents the triumph of spring over winter and thus symbolizes renewal, hope and immortality. Teal symbolizes healing and spirituality. The pink ribbon placed on top identifies the origin of the metastasis as breast cancer. Breast cancer is so much more than the color pink.

I love October but it is one crazy month when it comes to birthdays. Yesterday was my sister's {happy belated birthday Jen!} followed by my friend Kelly's, then my cousin's, then my other cousin's, then my other friend's. So I'll just be in the birthday card isle in Target if anybody needs me. Most likely drinking pumpkin coffee because let's face it, I'm obsessed.
