The Third Bikram Yoga Class

My spinning instructor has a saying that goes, "First class is hard, second class you're more hesitant to go because you know what to expect, third class is the worst, and by the fifth you're addicted."

Tonight I did my third Bikram Yoga class. It was definitely the worst. I knew what to expect and I was more conscious of my form and whether or not I was doing the pose properly. I found myself getting frustrated when I couldn't hold a pose or when I couldn't reach as far as I wanted to reach and I feel like I left the class in a bit of a funk.

I really want to love Bikram Yoga like I love spinning. I look forward to spinning every week and I am excited every time I walk into class because I know I'm about to have a great workout. So I will push through though and will go into class number four with an open mind and will hopefully begin to love and become "addicted" to Bikram Yoga!

After class I came home and made a smoothie. I followed the recipe for Julie from Peanut Butter Finger's Ice Cream Smoothies only I made a few small changes. I added a teaspoon of cocoa powder and I also substituted coconut water for milk because I was feeling a bit dehydrated.

Into the blender went:
- 2 frozen bananas
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- 1/2 c. coconut water
- 1 tsp. honey
- 1 tsp. cocoa powder

Yum!

You can check out Julie's blog here. Her blog was one of the first blogs I began to follow and it's definitely one of my favorites!

Spring Cleaning

I promised myself I would finish cleaning out my closet today. It's very difficult for me to get rid of clothes simply because I find it hard to believe I will never wear something ever again. You know those people that say you should give something away if you haven't worn it in a year? Yeah, I don't follow that. I'm more of a five year kind of girl. That being said, it's a process and I'm working on it. And by working on it, I mean browsing Pinterest and dreaming of what it would be like to call one of these my own:
Recognize that last one? The one and only Carrie Bradshaw closet. Oh, hello closet envy. Off to stuff more sweaters into Rubbermaid bins!

Currently Coveting... Handbags with a Shoulder Strap

I'm loving the trend of handbags with a shoulder strap on them. I love the look of holding a bag in your hand, but I also love the convenience that comes with a bag you can just throw over your shoulder and go. Here are a few I have my eye on:

And if I had all the money in the world to spend on handbags...

Hey a girl can dream, right?

Happy Birthday to my Mom

I'm off in DC today celebrating a good friend's 25th birthday, but I scheduled a post to say little happy birthday to my Mom. St. Patrick's Day has been a tough one for me these past few years because it is also my Mom's birthday. She passed away in August 2009 from metastatic breast cancer, after being diagnosed in May 2007.
For over twenty years, my Mom was a pharmacist at CVS, and let me tell you, she was awesome at it. She also was one of the founders of a support/awareness group just for metastatic breast cancer patients called METAvivor
My Mom was smart, patient, selfless, extremely positive, and above all else, incredibly strong. She wasn't afraid of anything, not love, not change, not even cancer. I am learning to feel her guidance and strength in my heart and I will spend the rest of my life loving her, thinking of her, discovering bits of her in me, and striving to make her proud.
Happy 62nd Birthday Mommy.

Currently Coveting... Kate Spade Watches

The Kate Spade watch collection that debuted yesterday, March 15. Each piece in Kate Spade's first-ever watch line is named after a famous New York City location and retails between $150 and $295. As expected, they are magnificent.

Kate Spade recently debuted their line of watches and I immediately fell in love. I especially love those cute little sayings found on the inside of the watches. See the entire collection here.

Trader Joe's Reduced Guilt Brownie Mix Review

After spinning this evening, I stopped by Trader Joe's to pick up a few things and grabbed this Reduced Guilt Brownie Mix. When I read the only things needed was the contained mix and 2/3 cup of vanilla yogurt, I was sold!
After dinner, I grabbed my two ingredients and got to work. Each brownie contains about 100 calories and are a great post-dinner treat. Trader Joe's, you've won me over again!
