The beach was exactly what I needed. A little break from the hustle and bustle of the daily routine. A little time oceanside to listen to the waves and just, breathe.

On My Bookshelf: Where We Belong
Something amazing happened to me on Tuesday. I had forgotten that I preordered Emily Giffin's new release, Where We Belong and all of a sudden, I turned on my Kindle to watch a movie, and it was there! Sometimes, I miss reading an actual book. I just love the feel and the smell of cracking open a new one. But times like these, when books are delivered magically automatically, I really do fall in love with my Kindle all over again.
I simply love Emily Giffin. I have read Something Borrowed, Something Blue, Baby Proof, Love the One You're With, and Heart of the Matter at least three times each if not more. Needless to say, it is taking everything in my power to not read Where We Belong every chance I get. {I might have been reading it yesterday on the Kindle iPhone app while I was waiting for my Bodypump class to begin}.
Where We Belong is about Marian Caldwel, a thirty-six year old television producer, living her
dream in New York City. With a fulfilling career and satisfying
relationship, she has convinced everyone, including herself, that her
life is just as she wants it to be. But one night, Marian answers a
knock on the door only to find Kirby Rose, an eighteen-year-old
girl with a key to a past that Marian thought she had sealed off
forever. From the moment Kirby appears on her doorstep, Marian’s
perfectly constructed world—and her very identity—will be shaken to its
core, resurrecting ghosts and memories of a passionate young love affair
that threaten everything that has come to define her {amazon.com}.
Pick up a hardcopy here or download the kindle version here. And if you haven't read Emily Giffin's other books, do that immediately as well.

Pinterest Party
This weekend, my whole family is heading to the beach! One of the things we're doing while there is having a Pinterest party. Everyone has to bring either a recipe or a craft idea that they found on Pinterest and we are going to spend an evening making fun things! I've decided to go the recipe route, specifically a dessert recipe. Here are a few ideas that I have:
{Pin Two} Funfetti Cake Dip from {Eat Yourself Skinny}
{Pin Three} Banana Soft Serve from {Chocolate Covered Katie}
This is going to be a tough decision! Perhaps I'll just make all three?

On My Bookshelf: Wife 22
I've been reading Wife 22, written by Melanie Gideon, for The Everygirl book club and so far, I LOVE it.
The book is about Alice Buckle, failed playwright, drama teacher, mother of two, and wife to William. Whether it's the fact that Alice is about to be 45 (same age her mother was when she died) or the fact that her once lively marriage has lost its spark, she is one step away from a midlife crisis.
The book is about Alice Buckle, failed playwright, drama teacher, mother of two, and wife to William. Whether it's the fact that Alice is about to be 45 (same age her mother was when she died) or the fact that her once lively marriage has lost its spark, she is one step away from a midlife crisis.
Alice receives an email inviting her to participate in an anonymous marriage study and immediately takes the plunge. This begins the relationship between Wife 22 and Researcher 101, the vivid storytelling and the brutally honest question-answering:
7. Sometimes I tell him he’s snoring when he’s not snoring so he’ll
sleep in the guest room and I can have the bed all to myself.
61.
Chet Baker on the tape player. He was cutting peppers for the salad. I
looked at those hands and thought, I am going to have this man’s
children.
67. To not want what you don’t have. What you can’t have. What you shouldn’t have.
32. That if we weren’t careful, it was possible to forget one another.
Wife 22 caught my attention from page one and I have not been able to put it down since. Buy a copy for yourself here or download the kindle edition here, you will love this one!

Chalkboard Wall
{tumblr}
Chalkboard walls are so fun. And they make for a great little DIY project. All you need is some chalkboard paint and a rainy Saturday and you're set. I especially love the idea of a chalkboard wall in the kitchen. Great for recipes, lists, or just little notes hello!
Also, Dana Tanamachi is a custom chalk letterer. Way cool? I think yes. Take a look at her gorg blog.

Invisible Cookie Dough Ice Pops
Today the heat index in Annapolis is supposed to be 110. Yikes! I was looking for something easy and quick to cool off with, came across these on Pinterest, and was immediately sold.
Invisible Cookie Dough Pops

~ ⅔ c. light brown sugar, packed
~ couple pinches salt
~ 2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
~ ¼ c. + 1 tsp. mini chocolate chips

milk in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for ~1 minute, or until warm to
the touch. Stir in brown sugar and salt until dissolved. Stir in
vanilla.
~ Place ½ tablespoon of chocolate chips in

Fourth of July
Yesterday was one of those days where you wish it could be summertime all. year. round.
How amazing is the moon next to the fireworks? As you can see by it's reflection, it was a deep orange color. Beautiful!
Does anyone else feel like the Fourth of July marks the halfway point of summer even though technically the first day of summer was only two weeks ago? Hey 2012, slow down a little bit.
