The Perfect Outfit For...

I was born and raised a Redskins fan and to me, this is the perfect outfit for a Redskins game. Whether you're sitting on the couch screaming at the tv cheering on the team or at the stadium tailgating, this outfit is chic and comfortable. 

I love this embellished Redskins Boyfriend Tee from Victoria's Secret paired with these J Brand Skinny Jeans and these leopard Sam Edelman Alvin Loafers. To keep jewelry simple I would wear these simple Kate Spade stud earrings

On... Being 25

The other morning I was venting to my Dad about how I am 25 years old and still living at home somewhat lost and very confused obvi living the dream, and he said to me, "You know, there are a lot of 25 year olds in the country in your exact same situation. You're not the only one who's struggling."

It definitely got me thinking. While I do have a wonderful job that I love, too often I feel like I am the only one who doesn't know what she is doing in the future. Like I am the only one who doesn't have a five year plan, or heck, any sort of plan at all. I thought to myself, is this what they, whoever they is, call the quarter-life crisis? Am I in it?

First I went to google, like all level headed individuals do, and searched "quarter life crisis." After sifting through a few discouraging articles, I found this gem written by Brenda Della Casa.

"It is when you stop going along with the crowd and start realizing that there are a lot of things about yourself that you didn’t know and may or may not like. You start feeling insecure and wonder where you will be in a year or two, but then get scared because you barely know where you are now. You start realizing that people are selfish and that, maybe, those friends that you thought you were so close to aren’t exactly the greatest people you have ever met and the people you have lost touch with are some of the most important ones. What you do not realize is that they are realizing that too and are not really cold or catty or mean or insincere, but that they are as confused as you. You look at your job. It is not even close to what you thought you would be doing or maybe you are looking for one and realizing that you are going to have to start at the bottom and are scared. You miss the comforts of college, of groups, of socializing with the same people on a constant basis. But then you realize that maybe they weren’t so great after all. You are beginning to understand yourself and what you want and do not want. Your opinions have gotten stronger. You see what others are doing and find yourself judging a bit more than usual because suddenly you realize that you have certain boundaries in your life and add things to your list of what is acceptable and what is not. You are insecure and then secure. You laugh and cry with the greatest force of your life. You feel alone and scared and confused. Suddenly change is the enemy and you try and cling on to the past with dear life but soon realize that the past is drifting further and further away and there is nothing to do but stay where you are or move forward. You get your heart broken and wonder how someone you loved could do such damage to you or you lay in bed and wonder why you can’t meet anyone decent enough to get to know better. You love someone but maybe love someone else too and cannot figure out why you are doing this because you are not a bad person. One night stands and random hook ups start to look cheap and getting wasted and acting like an idiot starts to look pathetic. You go through the same emotions and questions over and over and talk with your friends about the same topics because you cannot seem to make a decision. You worry about loans and money and the future and making a life for yourself and while winning the race would be great, right now you’d just like to be a contender! What you may not realize is that everyone reading this relates to it. We are in our best of times and our worst of times, trying as hard as we can to figure this whole thing out."

I am hopeful that I will find my way soon. Until I get there, I will try my best to live in the moment and strive for days that are filled with happiness, little victories, and lots and lots of laughter.

September Birchbox Haul

This weekend was a slow one. I packed away my summer clothes and replenished my closet with my fall wardrobe, spent an embarrassing amount of time watching revenge (almost done season one!) and even proceeded to organize my Pinterest boards for a couple hours. Yeah, I'm not proud about that last one.

I had the day off from work today because of Rosh Hashana so that meant I got to relax for one more day. Think, sipping coffee slowly followed by laundry and mild cleaning, followed by a trip to the mall (I didn't buy anything, merely window shopped. Cue patting myself on the back).
My blissful day was made better when I came home to find this month's Birchbox in the mailbox. Inside I found:

Trend Alert: Printed Pants

I get it, printed pants are very intimidating. I thought the same thing too, until I tried a few pairs on. Now, I am all for them.

I am very extremely lucky in that my office has a laid back environment. Think cotton dresses in the spring and corduroys and a vneck tee in the fall. While some printed pants are a little to crazy to wear to the office (Hudsons I'm looking at you), others, like these by Marc, can be easily paired with a black tee like this one from j.crew and a pair of black Tory Burch flats.

Street Style: New York Fashion Week

i could spend all day looking at pictures of street style. 
so it's no surprise that i spent one two hours last night looking at photographs
taken at spring 2013 new york fashion week. here are some favorites:
1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9 / 10

most of these outfits go against all the fashion rules you've ever heard.
but these ladies pull them off because of one little added accessory:
i'm not saying i would wear these and strut up main street in annapolis.
but these outfits inspire me
to leave that one accessory on that others would take off
to mix those prints others don't think mix
and, dare i say, wear leopard on leopard.
because we all know how much i love leopard.

Six Things I Love About September

I love summer, I really do. But lately, I have been seriously craving cooler weather. I can not wait to walk outside and not have my first reaction be "ugh" followed by sweat (yummy right?). 

I'll be bringing in September with Bruce Springsteen in Philadelphia on Labor Day, followed by a warm Pumpkin Spice Latte on September 7. I am also excited to cheer for a football team that is actually good for a change (hey RGIII!!) and to eat some yummy apples. Most of all, I am ready for some fall fashion. Really, there is no better feeling then the one I get when I'm packing away those tank tops and breaking out those leather boots.
