Walking Off the Stuffing

My post-Thanksgiving Friday morning consisted of a short trip to the gym and a long walk around the Naval Academy. Followed by leftovers. Lots and lots of leftovers.

Annapolis, you're beautiful. I'm glad I get to call you home.

Fashion People as Thanksgiving Day Parade Balloons

So I am not really big on the Thanksgiving Day parade. I mean, I have it on in the background so I can say I "watched" it has not ever been something that has kept my ADD-prone attention span for more than a few minutes at a time. THIS on the other hand, having fashion people as Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons - pure. genius. I would one hundred percent stop everything I am doing Thanksgiving morning {read: preparing my body for some major carb loading} to watch a large Donatella Versace or Karl Lagerfeld float through Manhattan. Like I said, pure genius.

Wish List

Essie 'Good as Gold' Polish | Nordstrom

In the midst of making a handful of fab gift guides {coming to the blog next week!} I have found so many things that I love. Every year around this time, I struggle to make a Christmas list to send to my family. I usually ask for money or gift certificates only to hear, "we want to get you something meaningful." This year, the gift guides I have made have really helped me pick out a handful of small things to ask Santa my family for - and I hope they help you too! Lots of goodies coming your way soon!

Sandy: How to Help

 A handful of my very good friends live in the Connecticut, New Jersey & New York area and it breaks my heart to see the devastation Sandy left. If you are anything like me, you want to help in any way you can. On Friday, I donated $10 to The Red Cross by texting REDCROSS to 90999. You can also make a donation by visiting www.redcross.orgNearly 300 Red Cross blood drives were canceled because of Sandy, so blood supplies are low in the areas affected the most. The Red Cross asks that those who can donate to schedule an appointment to give blood. The New York Blood Center is urging people to donate blood for those in the New York/New Jersey area. To donate, call 800-933-2566 or visit www.nybloodcenter.org.

Here are other organizations that are looking for donations:
American Humane Association {test HUMANE to 80888 to give $10}
AmeriCares
ASPCA
City Meals on Wheels
Direct Relief International {text RELIEF to 27722 to give $10}
Feeding America
Food Bank of NYC {text FBNYC to 50555 to give $10}
Humane Society{text LOVE to 20222 to give $10}
International Medical Corps {text MED to 80888 to give $10}
Mayor's Fund to Advance NYC

Salvation Army {text STORM to 80888 to give $10}

Six Things I Love About November

1. Starbucks Red Cups - the holidays are officially here!
2. Christmas Music - okay, I might have started listening to it in October,
but you know what I say? It's never too early for Christmas Music.
3. Navy v. Texas State - november 17 {Go Navy!}
4. Thanksgiving - family and delicious food. enough said.
5. Black Friday Shopping - while the mall on black friday scares the daylights out of me,
I am a major fan of online black friday sales.
6. Holiday Gift Guides - coming soon to the blog!
