Warm Water with Lemon in the Morning

I read once that you should wait to check your email until you have been at work for at least an hour. Well, I have a bad horrible habit of checking my email shortly after my alarm goes off. I know it is a bad way to begin the morning but I just. can't. help. it.

I also read once that beginning your day with a warm mug of water and the juice of half a lemon has numerous health benefits:

1. Stimulates and detoxifies the liver
2. Boosts your immune system
3. Balances pH
4. Helps with weight loss
5. Aids digestion and help loosen ama, or toxins, in the digestive tract
6. Acts as a gentle, natural diuretic
7. Clears skin
8. Hydrates the lymph system
9. Reduces stress
10. Energizes you naturally

I have been drinking a warm mug of water with lemon in the morning for the past week and I love it. It took me a day or two to get used to drinking warm lemon water first thing and now, I find I look forward to it and almost crave it. I also find that it gives me a few minutes of quiet time before my busy day begins. And at this point, I will take all the quiet time I can get!

  1. I drink this all the time -- it's great for cleansing and detoxing the body! xo

  2. Ahhh...sounds so peaceful! Maybe I'll give it a try :-)

  3. I found your blog through the Life of Bon giveaway and I am so glad I did, I love it and I am now following you!

  4. My mom and I started drinking warm water with lemon when we were on a diet. I love lemon so I didn't mind it. Although the warmth of it made it taste a bit weird.

  5. oh yes! I check my email the first thing after my alarm goes off, too! Horrible, I know :-) My mom always drinks warm water with lemon juice in the morning and she tried to make me get this habit, too, but I only do it for a few days and then forget again. Thanks for reminding! I'll get lemons in a store tomorrow :-)

  6. I do this, too! It's the best! But I totally cave and add splenda :)
